Williams Tools
Williams Tools
A HOUSEHOLD NAME IN THE HEAVY INDUSTRY.
Whatever your job, whatever your industry, whatever your challenge – Williams tools never flinch. Since 1882 Williams has met the harshest challenges of the most demanding industries.
Williams was among the first manufacturers in the world to offer mass produced drop-forged tools, a 15° angle wrench, and heavy-duty slugging wrenches. A century and a quarter later we continue to offer unique and innovative products for those industries, whose demands are greater than ever.
Williams Tools: our heritage, your future.

Williams - Trusted. Strong. Valued.
Williams has a rich history of working with industrial professionals since 1882.

Williams Tools' Proud History
Williams has made strong, trusted tools for industrial professionals with pride since 1882.
It’s first factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NYC, revolutionized drop forging, “blacksmithing by machinery,” to ensure all pieces were created with the same consistency and quality.
Due to their precise manufacturing process, Williams’ products were used in the countless industrial shops of 19th century America. From turning out tools for bicycles, sewing machines and more to the production of golf club heads for a growing America.

Products unique in quality, arrangement and refinement meant everything to the early Williams brand. The Red Hook factory was spotless. It was advanced for its time, from recycling oil to having its own fireproof architecture and private fire department.
With Williams attention to detail and precision, Williams won special praise for its distinctive, highly-polished sycamore wood display during the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.
Today
Today with world-class factories across the United States, Williams’ heritage of high-quality, industrial-focused tools continues to deliver a brand of tools that is ready to work.
Whether in the field, suspended at height or in the plant, we are performing along side you everyday. Williams is your trusted, strong and valued Industrial Workhorse.

TORQUE SOLUTIONS
PROPER TORQUE
In industrial applications proper torque is important for safety, reliability and performance. Every manufacturer whether in fleet maintenance, power generation, oil and gas, etc. specifies critical fastener torque for important reasons. Under and over tightening critical fasteners can lead to product failure. Product failure means downtime, higher costs, potential injury and more.
TOOLS@HEIGHT
- SAVE TIME AND MONEY - Engineered attachment points don’t interfere with the functionality of the tools.
- BEAT THE STATISTICS - The Tools@Height System tethers each tool with its own lanyard, minimizing exchanges and reducing the likelihood of drops.
- MINIMIZE RISK - Independent tethering allows a tool to be removed and returned to its holster with one hand so the user can maintain the critical “three points of contact” when working at height.
- RETAIN CONTROL - Our modular approach allows you to configure tools and holsters to your needs.
- LEAVE IT TO THE EXPERTS - We will work with you to determine your drop prevention needs and provide a complete system to help your workers work safely and efficiently.

Mission
To create and serve customers with quality products and service that meet or exceed their expectations.

1914
Sioux Tools has a long and proud heritage of innovation as they have helped to shape the face of the tool industry.
The company was started in November of 1914 by Swedish tool maker, Oscar Albertson, and office boy, Harold Jacobson, with a goal to become the “best machine and tool shop”. Sioux has since grown to become a trusted partner by a wide range of industrial and manufacturing segments.
1917
Originally named Albertson & Company, the first items manufactured were piston rings, spark plugs and a gas saver. They soon expanded their line to become a powerful force in the marketplace.
In early 1917, Oscar Albertson designed a valve lathe – a hand tool used to seat engine valves. This invention proved to be the foundation upon which Sioux Tools has built a reputation for innovation throughout the world.
1958
During the 1920s the company revolutionized the tool industry by introducing some of the very first hand held power tools.
In 1958 the company further solidified its position as a market leader by designing and producing its first air powered tools.
1994
In 1994 Sioux Tools joined Snap-on Incorporated, which added industrial power tools to the extensive Snap-on line.
Product lines include hand and power tools, diagnostics and shop equipment, tool storage products, diagnostics software and other solutions for the transportation service, industrial, government, education, agricultural, and other commercial applications, including construction and electrical.

With seventy years of experience in Airframe tooling, we have every imaginable tool when it comes to Drilling, Countersinking, Riveting and Bucking procedures.

1938
ATI was formed in 1938 in Los Angeles, California and incorporated as Aircraft Tools, Inc., in 1949.
Strategically located near LA International Airport, we were able to serve Douglas, Northrop, Lockheed and North American Aviation.
1950
In the mid-1950s, we opened several U.S. sales offices in order to support other companies like Boeing, Grumman, Beech, Cessna, General Dynamics, LTV, Sikorsky, Rohr and Bell Helicopter.
As business changed in the late 1950s, we began soliciting machine shop work and formed a tool and an aerospace division that allowed us to grow substantially.
1960s – 1970s
In 1966, ATI relocated to Escondido, CA, just north of San Diego. It had established itself as the largest supplier of quality aircraft fabricating tools in the United States and Canada.
In 1972, the employees of ATI purchased the company and changed the name to ATI Industries. We began concentrating on international markets, setting up sales distribution into 35 countries.
1980s – 1990s
In March of 1986, ATI brand was sold to, and became a subsidiary of, Snap-on Tools Incorporated.
When defence budgets were drastically reduced in the early 1990s, ATI terminated all aerospace missile component work to concentrate solely on the core commercial tools business. In keeping with this focus, we changed our company name to ATI Tools, Inc. and kept that name until January 1, 1996, when we became ATI Tools Division, Snap-on Tools Company.
2000s – Today
In early 2009, ATI consolidated with CDI Torque, another Snap-on Tools company, and formed Snap-on Specialty Tools, which resides today in City of Industry, California.
Snap-on Specialty Tools has a full service design and engineering staff and the capabilities to build custom tools for specific applications.

Salute to the Makers & Fixers
Keeping the world moving isn’t just your job. It’s your purpose.

Snap-on history
timeline
Five unique handles and ten sockets that snapped on interchangeably, coined “Five do the work of Fifty”, launched a company that would shape the industry.
In 1920, a cultural shift was underway in the United States as the automobile was rising in popularity, creating the need for an emerging automotive repair industry. Joseph Johnson, and engineer from Milwaukee, had an idea that would revolutionise repair and make work easier for professional mechanics.

1930s
Dream Orders & Needs List
In the grip of the Great Depression, Snap-on salesmen would say to their customers, “Everybody is in a fix today – no money – but when you have money again, what tools will you need?” They called these “Dream Orders.” The novel idea quickly developed into a “Needs List,” and is still used with success today.
1940s
Essential to the War Effort
The early 1940s were marked by World War II and the military experienced severe tool shortages as a result. As a preferred supplier to the government, Snap-on was called into action, producing tools that kept air and ground equipment operating. Wartime demands also led to product innovations.
1950s
Booming Auto Industry
Post-war America began an era of optimism and growth of the middle class. The baby boom created a surge in home construction and a departure from the city to the suburbs.
Snap-on was well positioned to take advantage of this cultural shift; the dealer network continued to expand as a result of the fast developing auto repair industry and industrial sales accelerated as factories returned back to pre-war production.
1960s
Creation of The Flank Drive
At this time, the aviation industry was making advancements in reducing space and weight by modifying fasteners, but was struggling with rounding of the fastener corners upon removal. The Navy sought Snap-on to solve this dilemma.
The solution, called the Flank Drive® Wrenching System, was issued two patents in 1965 and proved so popular that it spread throughout the Snap-on product line.
1980s
Soaring to New Heights
In the late 1980s, the “Soaring to New Heights in Customer Service” theme was created as the Corporation strived to reach the $1 billion sales milestone.
The eagle, a powerful, regal bird known for fast and furious flight, was chosen as the symbol to guide the Company to even higher levels of quality and customer service. In 1987, the $1 billion sales goal was achieved.
1990s
Continuously Evolving
Throughout the 1990s, Snap-on continued to expand product lines globally to better serve professionals in critical industries. More than two dozen companies were acquired.
With Sioux® and Williams® we extended our offering in power and hand tools for critical industries. In 1995 Snap-on purchased Eurotools, reaching professional tradesmen globally. In 1999, Snap-on acquired the Bahco® iconic brand.
2000s
Rapid Continuous Improvement (RCI)
RCI is a structured set of tools and processes, used by associates globally to eliminate wasted effort and create productivity and quality, leading to sustainable operating efficiencies.
Beginning in 2005, Snap-on enlisted the masters of the Toyota Production System, Shingijutsu, as a guide.
2010s – Today
Runways for Growth
Snap-on is positioned for the future with favorable vehicle population trends, increasing vehicle complexity, growing demand in emerging markets and significant opportunities in industries outside of vehicle repair.
To capitalize on these opportunities, we are investing strategically in these wide runways for growth in order to reach more professionals.
